Steinberg Diagnostic Medical Imaging (SDMI) is pleased to announce that Rayland Chow has been promoted from Chief MRI Technologist to Technical Director. Current Technical Director, Lona Van Boven will be retiring in January 2021 after being with SDMI for over 40 years.
To ensure a smooth transition Lona has been working closely with Ray over the past year, “Ray is the best person for the job. He loves this company and what it stands for and will continue to embrace all the values which make SDMI the best.” Said Lona of her successor. Her best word of advice for Ray? “Remember that all employees — whatever they do — are a valuable piece of the puzzle and need to be appreciated.”
Ray began his career with SDMI in 2000 as a UNLV student, 3 years later he was promoted to MRI Lead and 2 years after that was promoted to Chief MRI Technologist. Ray has been crucial in the implementation of new equipment, conducted MRI safety trainings for SDMI employees as well as for local fire departments, and true to the spirit of the SDMI mission has always been the go-to resource for assisting patients with any special MRI needs. He is known for always making himself available to help and that combined with his over 20 years of SDMI experience is what makes him the perfect Technical Director. Transitioning from supporting solely MRI to being the resource for all 10 modalities seems daunting for most, but Ray is excited to take it all on. “Lona's shoes are amongst the biggest to fill and transitioning during a pandemic presents its own challenges” said Ray. “But I am embracing the challenge and look forward to continuing to keep SDMI a safe space for both our employees and patients.”
Everyone at SDMI is extremely proud of both Lona and Ray, and all of their accomplishments. We wish Lona the best in retirement and are ecstatic to see Ray in his new role.
