Nov. 2, 2018 (Las Vegas, Nev.) — Steinberg Diagnostic Medical Imaging’s Rachel Papka was honored with the ‘Top Tech Exec’ award by Cox Business and Vegas Inc. in a ceremony held at The Smith Center for the Performing Arts on Nov. 1. The awards recognize the most outstanding Information Technology executives who work in Southern Nevada, as nominated by their peers and clients.
Rachel Papka’s focus at SDMI is workflow analysis in relation to internal efficiency and the patient experience. Rachel leads several departments including her team of Health Information Technology (HIT) Specialists, Corporate Training, Transcribing and Call Center. She has implemented many innovative solutions including electronic faxing, access portals, and workflow re-design, working at SDMI for the past four years.
Through utilizing various electronic order methods, she has helped develop more accurate patient estimates, helping SDMI, as an organization, to respond quickly and improve patient care.
Recently, Rachel championed the activation of the SDMI Patient Portal, again to provide a better patient experience. The Patient Portal provides patients with paperless billing, financial assistance and the ability to view their reports and images online. The Portal has reduced the number of printed reports and printed CD’s, allowing patients to take a more active role in their healthcare. Also, the Physician Portal, or SDMI Gateway, allows physicians to similarly gain immediate electronic access to patient records.
Dr. David Steinberg, managing partner of SDMI, says of Rachel, “She has truly made a big impact on SDMI that enhances both patient care and the speed and ease with which physicians can access patient information. Her work, though primarily behind the scenes, is deserving of center stage. We are delighted her contributions are recognized with this award.”
