Before SDMI, I went to X-Ray school in the midwest, got married and moved to Los Angeles in the late 80's. I worked for orthopedic surgeons, outpatient ER and urology offices performing X-Ray after graduation from college.
I got the opportunity to train as a mammography technologist and really loved it. I became certified and never looked back.
I've worked as a mammographer since 1992. I moved to Las Vegas with husband and two young kids and was hired in 2003. I started as a closer at our MP location. I was promoted to lead tech a couple of years in, honored with the Golden Image Award and accepted the position of Chief after 5 years of hard work. In 2017, I won the coveted SDMI Employee of the Year.
I have taught mammography positioning since 2006, watching students grasp the challenging positioning skill warms my heart. A well positioned mammogram performed by a highly skilled mammographer is the cornerstone for detecting breast cancer, which leads to saving lives. When interviewing mammo tech applicants, I am looking for a compassionate individual that conveys a passion for people, verses a button pusher. I can attest that each and every SDMI mammography technologist has those qualities.
I work hard and I also play hard. I enjoy traveling and beach vacations with husband, kids and longtime friends. I am an avid reader and love relaxing poolside with a good book with classical, jazz, reggae, country or R&B music playing in the background. I love living the empty nester life with husband and cat Ryan.
